Michelle is a registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience. Michelle has worked in the education, public health, and mental health sectors. Her warm and engaging approach allows her to connect with youth of all ages and engage them in building the skills they need to cope with life’s challenges. Michelle’s approach to counselling depends on the needs of the client and can include: play and art based approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness based approaches, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and systems approaches. Michelle obtained her Masters Degree from Wilfrid Laurier and holds a certificate in play therapy from Western University. She has additional training in crisis and trauma intervention. Michelle works collaboratively with caregivers to address issues around school refusal, anxiety, behaviour and co-parenting after separation or divorce. She provides parental support with stress, anxiety, coping and resiliency. For children, Michelle provides psychosocial assessments, grief counselling, trauma counselling, counselling to address mood disorders, suicide prevention, emotion regulation, behavioural issues, learning challenges and crisis intervention for post traumatic events.
