Affordable Counselling/Therapy Program

Therapy Services

At CHATT Inc. we believe that mental health services should be accessible to everyone. But it can be a challenge to get the services we need if we are not able to afford the cost.

We have recently partnered with Journey Well, a group therapy practice based in Woodstock, to expand the Affordable Therapy Program. This program is designed to work with clients to get them connected with therapy services at a cost they can manage.

Services are provided by a Therapist Intern on a sliding scale based on income. You may attend as many sessions as you and your Therapist Intern determine that you need, while the Therapist Intern is with the team. And the Therapist Intern will work with you to assess concerns, determine goals, and create a treatment plan that will guide your therapy services.

Working with a Therapist Intern

Therapist Interns are masters level students who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their therapy services. They are working towards completing a degree related to counselling, such as an MA in Counselling Psychology or an MSc in Couple & Family Therapy. They have completed significant course work and are now completing a practicum with us, where they are supervised by a Registered Psychotherapist or Social Worker.

Some concerns that a Therapist Intern may be able to support you with include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Stress and coping

  • Life transitions

  • Relationships

  • Anger management

  • Grief

Our Therapist Interns meet weekly with a qualified supervisor on our team to ensure that clients are receiving quality services that aligns with best practices and standards of care. This lends to their professional development while you receive the services you need at a fee you can afford.

Accessing Therapy

In order to access services through the Affordable Therapy Program, you must meet the following:

  • Resident of Ontario, Canada

  • Over the age of 16

  • Not experiencing an acute mental health crisis, including psychosis, active suicidality, or eating disorder requiring medical intervention, or an addiction or abuse of drugs or alcohol

  • Understand that the Therapist Intern is with the team short term and all efforts will be made to wrap up your care but that there may not be an option to continue services at the same fee (e.g. if Therapist Intern ends and another Therapist Intern has not joined the team yet).

  • Are willing to engage in a brief consultation to determine suitability for work with a Therapist Intern

Based on these pieces, if you feel the Affordable Therapy Program is a fit for you, reach out to us here and mention the Affordable Therapy Program or give us a call at (519) 485-2428
