Amy is a Registered Social Worker with over 20 years’ experience. She graduated with distinction from McMaster University with Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Social Work, as well as, from the University of Toronto with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She is registered with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. 

Amy brings warmth, calmness, and a sense of humour to therapy with adults, older adults and their care partners. With skill and compassion she assists clients in grieving losses while balancing acceptance of what is while encouraging change. Amy helps clients to learn more about themselves, their relationships, and to build resilience and hope while coping through life’s complexities. 

Her love for working with older adults and their families has led her to become certified as a Brain Longevity Specialist through the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation in the United States. She has also received repeated training in Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Addictions Recovery, Mindfulness, Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia, and MoCA testing (Montreal Cognitive Assessment). Amy is certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy through Wilfred Laurier University. 

These various therapy modalities have informed her practice in a variety of settings, including: community case management, individual therapy for intimate partner violence, group therapy for addictions and mental illness, outpatient psychiatry, and medical social work in hospital settings in various areas of specialty; strokes, palliative care, rehabilitation, complex continuing care, and acute medicine.
